Arthur  A. Matyjasik, age 85
MATYJASIK- Arthur A. - Age 85 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the WNY VA Medical Campus after a brief illness.

Arthur was born in Buffalo New York on April 7, 1929 the son of Walter & Cecilia (nee Lewandowski) Matyjasik.

Arthur and his wife Lorraine would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on July 21, 2015. Arthur and Lorraine were married at St.John Kanty Church on July 21, 1956. In addition to his wife; Lorraine (nee Kwandrans) Arthur is survived by his children; David (Charlene) Matyjasik, Joyce (the late Cal) Buchanan, Doreen (Ken) Matyjasik, Annette (Jim) Richley, the late Larry and the late Gloria (survived by Ray) O'Grady. Arthur was the loving grandfather of 13, great grandfather of 5 and great great grandfather of 2. He is also survived by his beloved pets.

Arthur was a proud Korean Army Veteran, having served his country from 1951 - 1953.  He retired as a machinest from WestingHouse in Cheektowaga New York. He also worked for the railroad system, (now know as CXS) for 9 years repairing box cars.

He enjoyed woodworking, especially making Potato Bins
and Garbage Bins. He was able to make anything out of wood.  Another of Arthur's hobbies was home repairs. He was skilled at installing windows, repairing or replacing roofs and he could tackle any plumbing job. 

At his home, Arthur enjoyed gardening. He had both vegetable and flower gardens. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He relocated from Buffalo to Alabama New York to "enjoy country living"

Arthur was always a happy person, very friendly and out-going.  He made friends very easily. People were immediately drawn to him because of his personality and his willingness to help anyone in any way he could.  He will be deeply missed by his family, whom he left an incredible leagcy to.

Family and Friends are invited to attend Arthurs' Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. John Kanty Roman Catholic Church. The church is located on Broadway  at the corner of Swinburne Street in the City of Buffalo 14212. Following the Funeral Liturgy, the Army Honor Gaurd will perform a Military Service and present the Flag of the United States of America to his wife Lorraine.  At the conclusion of the Military Service in the church, the Matyjasik Family invites everyone to a breakfast at Ray's Lounge & Catering - 2070 Clinton Street Buffalo NY 14206.

There will be no prior calling hours at Arthurs' request.

Our hearts are sad with your passing but your contagious smile and loving heart gave us great memories. You were a great man ,and we are so proud to call you ours. ❤️ Uncle Arthur was a blessing , his guilty little chuckle and When he smiled his eyes smiled & a sense of joy , pure happiness Is what I will always remember & what I will truly miss.
