Age 79, of Cheektowaga New York passed away after a long ilness at 4:25 am at the Mitchell in-patient unit of Hospice Buffalo on Tuesday January 5, 2016.

Richard was born on July 14, 1936  in Buffalo New York the son of the late Matthew Schuler  and the late Audrey (nee Mueller) Schuler.

Beloved and devoted husband of Patricia  E. (nee Schmauss) Schuler. Devoted and loving father of  James R. (Luann)Schuler and Richard J. (Melanie) Schuler. Fond grandfather of Greg, Lindsay, Mitchell and Shannon. Dear brother of Jean (late Carl) Bracco, Ronald (late Marlene) Schuler, Robert (Chris) Schuler and Allan (Sue) Schuler.
 Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

"Rich loved life and was a long time volunteer for the Hy-View Fire Department in Cheektowaga NY.  He always kept a positive attitude  through a long illness with the goal of returning  to active service at the fire hall and resuming a normal lifestyle. This goal was realized many times through his eleven year battle with cancer."

Rich worked at Brinks Armored Car and NEMF Trucking.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Rich's Memorial Mass on  SATURDAY JANUARY 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Queen of Martyrs RC Church 180 George Urban Blvd. Cheektowaga NY .  Flowers are greatfully declined. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice Buffalo  225 Como Park Boulevard Cheektowaga New York 14227-1480.
